The song I have chosen is Mr Tambourine Man by Bob Dylan. The main concept behind the video is based around the song's message of creativity and inspired by Johnny Depp choosing to play it at Hunter S. Thompson's funeral just before his ashes were fired from a cannon. Memory and remembering the best times in life are central to the video and so I will use personal footage of myself and my friends that I have recorded over the past two years and combine it with lip syncing to create a montage of a man's past.
Artist style and form
Dylan Freeman, the man I have created to be my artist, is a solo musician, however when he tours, like many others, he has a band to back him and round out his sound. When trying to bring him to life I thought about real people to whom he could be compared and decided that he is an amalgamation of Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac and Kevin Smith. Dylan for the musical aspirations and drive, Kerouac for the adventurous attitude and carefree spirit and Smith for his friendly and sharing nature. The song is a well known classic and as such I felt that the music video should stand back and allow the music to take centre stage.
Target Audience
From the results of my questionnaire I have decided to target my music video at people aged between 24-49. Although people of a younger demographic received the song and the video idea favourably, the music lends itself to an older generation more familiar with Bob Dylan and his work. That being said, I hope that people of all ages will enjoy it.
Technology
I will probably end up using a lot more technology, both hardware and software, but for now I think that these are the most important and will likely be used more than anything else.
